United People's Freedom Alliance (UPFA) MP Mahindananda Aluthgamage arrived at the Financial Crimes Investigation Division (FCID) a short while ago to give a statement in connection with misappropriating government funds worth Rs.39 million.
Police Spokesman SP Ruwan Gunasekara said the FCID will record a statement from Mr. Aluthgamage over allegedly misapropriating government funds to buy Carrom and Checker-boards in 2014.
Earlier, the Fort Magistrate imposed a travel ban on the Parliamentarian over the same allegation.
Earlier this month, the FCID also arrested former chairman of Sathosa, K.Nalin Ruwanjeeva Fernando at the Bandaranaike International Airport on the same charges when he tried lo leave the country.(Darshana Sanjeewa)
