A 21 year old suspect who cashed in a heavy sum with forged Mahajana Sampatha Lotteries was taken into custody with the computer equipment used by the Western Province Intelligence Division.

The suspect is a resident of Kaduwela. Inquiries revealed that he had scanned the genuine lottery tickets and changed the last three numbers to draw prizes of Rs.1,000.

He was in possession of two forged lotteries bearing a similar number at the time he was arrested. He had drawn prizes on the forged lotteries from wayside stalls and vans. Police said he had been carrying on the racket for a long time. (Nimali Kahawala)
