A Pohottuwa stalwart, a former purohita, had threatened to take poison if he were overlooked when assigning top team portfolios, they say.
This politico hailing from a district known for its cool climate had lost his seat at the big poll. He had threatened to take poison when he heard that the Pohottuwa top men had decided not to offer a portfolio to anyone who could not win the seat for the party given there was no possibility of even accommodating party stalwarts who won their seats in the Colombo district with thumping majorities.
There was no positive response to the former purohita’s ‘threat’ from government top men and he did not take poison either!
