The police have arrested a total of 16,892 persons who violated the curfew regulations imposed as a result of the Covid-19 outbreak in Sri Lanka for the past 18 days, since the curfew was first imposed on March 20th.
Police Headquarters said 768 individuals were nabbed countrywide from 12 noon to 6.00pm yesterday, whilst 249 vehicles too were taken into custody.
The police have seized 4,313 vehicles thus far, which had been used by the curfew violators who had been travelling around, sans a reason.
Head of Police Legal Division DIG Ajith Rohana earlier warned tough action against those who break the curfew laws, irrespective of their status.
