Mahindagamanaya hits screens on Wednesday

Seasoned director Sanath Abeysekara’s maiden movie creation ‘Mahindagamanaya’ based on the arrival of Buddhism to Sri Lanka is all set to be released in the Ridma and  CEL circuit from Wednesday, May 18 to coincide with the 2600 Sambuddhathwa Jayanthi.

The historic movie produced by Daminda Upali Fernando on behalf of Best Life International will feature leading artistes including Jeevan Kumaratunga who plays King Devanampiyatissa and Dilhani Ekanayake who plays Queen Ramadaththa.

The other key roles will be played by Roshan Ranawana, Oshadie Hewamadduma, Roshan Pilapitiya, Duleeka Marapana, Chinthaka Kulathunga, Kumara Thirimadura, G. R. Perera, Udayanthi Kulathunga, Uddika Premaratne, Nishantha Jayawickrema, D B. Gangodathenna, Gnananga Gunawardana, Hemasiri Liyanage, Anul Bulathsinhala, Sarath Dikkumbura, Sanjaya Amarasinghe, Amarapala Narasingharachchi, Chaminda Wickremasinghe, Gamini Jayalath, Palitha Nanayakkara, Kauli Dulanji Peiris, Chathurika Amarasinghe, Onisha Rathnayake and others.


Rohana Weerasinghe has directed the music, Channa Deshapriya, Dhammika Rathnayake and Sarath Suriyaarachchi the cinematography, Sunil Wijeratne the art direction, Tharaka Adhikari the make up, Sam Perera the Hair styles, Heenatigala Premadasa the costumes and jewellery while Jayampathi Bopitiya has assisted in the direction.

Ven. Ellawala Medhananda Thera, Ven. Pallegama Hemarathana Thera, Sanath Abeysekara and Prof. Sunil Ariyaratne have penned the lyrics. Visharada Nanda Malini, Amarasiri Peiris, Karunaratne Divulgane and Uresha Ravihari are the playback singers.  (RU)
