A leopard attacks a forest guard at Prakash Nagar village near Salugara on the outskirts of Siliguri on July 19, 2011. Six people were mauled by the leopard after the feline strayed into the village area before it was caught by forestry department officials. Forest officials made several attempt to tranquilised the full grown leopard that was wandering through a part of the densely populated city when curious crowds startled the animal, a wildlife official said. The cat died within hours after the showdown, because of villagers used knives, stones and batons to beat back the cat. Google it.

    Completely agreed!!!!!!!!!
Think, if we are loosing our home and the place we born by torture. So what we do? fight back to save our own home and the life. This incident same as that kind of situation...

First thing is we (humans) are intruding into the lands that originally belonged to the animals. So the least we can do is protect them for our children to see in the future.

Lanke Banda Thursday, 21 July 2011 06:47 AM

Why are the guards giving protection to the beast. Is the Beast's life more valuable than the Guard's ? Madness they should have immidiately put the Leopard to sleep.

Very braver guards, at least they did not kill leopard but caught it alive. Seems these will be the pictures of the year 2011.

Noel Fernando Thursday, 21 July 2011 05:42 AM

All the photos tell us that the incompetence of forest officials.they must be given training.

    ishan Thursday, 21 July 2011 05:36 AM

The forest dept officials tried their best not to kill it..THey and even teh villagers should be credited trying their best to capture it alive...Sadly few weeks back the largest leopard in Mihinthale santuary was gunned down by hunters inside the park for its skin..(Great images too)

    Manmohan Thursday, 21 July 2011 05:17 AM
