A request made by Northern Province Chief Minister C. V. Wigneswaran to intervene and release the LTTE suspects on remand was rejected by UNHRC Chief Zeid Ra’ad Al Hussein today.
The Chief Minister had made this request when he met the UNHRC Chief this morning.
Reportedly, Prince Hussein had rejected the request claiming that the releasing of suspects should be carried out according to a legal procedure regardless of the government which is in power.
