Verbal clash between certain members of the SLPP and the SLFP in many parts of the country, particularly in Gampaha, Polonnaruwa and Matara Districts has come under heavy criticism by President Gotabaya Rajapaksa at the cabinet meeting yesterday, a senior Minister said.

President Rajapaksa said that the mudslinging between candidates of both parties immensely damages the SLPP election campaign and those engaged in vituperative politics have to stop it forthwith.

Meanwhile, Power, Energy and Transport Minister Mahinda Amaraweera said voters are intelligent enough to take independent decisions to use their franchise, and they would not vote for or against any candidate only because some demand to do so.

“They are not ready to vote or not to vote on the advice of another candidate,” he said adding the people have great confidence in the government led by President Gotabaya Rajapaksa and SLPP led by Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa. Therefore, they would vote based on the trust reposed on the two leaders. (Sandun A. Jayasekera)

SLPP candidates are all world class thugs and thieves, along with its leader. SLFP is confined to just a name board, and UNP is also supporting SLPP. Everyone know that. No 2/3 rd if that’s your dream to divide the country.

Should this matter be taken at the Cabinet meeting? Is this matter a national issue or a problem? Shouldn't this be discussed at the Party meeting at their headquarters? It is also discussed at People's expense.

I think the mastermind of this game is MR. He planned everything from the scratch and asked his henchmen to launch it. After that he carefully watches what happens. If it goes as he planned he keeps quiet. Otherwise he pretends he does not approve it.

If ,SLPP/SLFP has a understanding how two groups work together, both should adhere to it, if someone talks big ,still we have the vote
