Special police teams have been deployed to arrest those who violate the quarantine curfew, Police said.
Police Spokesman DIG Ajith Rohana said that the police have arrested a total of 165 suspects within last 24-hour for violating quarantine curfew.
He said 30 vehicles were also taken into the custody.
A total of 924 persons were arrested and 140 vehicles were taken into the custody as of this morning since October 4.
Also, the Western Province Senior DIG has appointed several senior police officers to deal with the issues of curfew permits and other issues in the areas where the curfew is being implemented.
He said quarantine curfew is currently in place in 56 Police areas in four districts.
Accordingly, curfew has been imposed in 33 Police areas in the Gampaha District, 15 in the Colombo District, five areas in the Kurunegala District and three police areas in the Kalutara District.
