MP Ranjan Ramanayake yesterday filed a motion against the disclosure of telephone recordings – seized by the police during his arrest – to media platforms.
When the motion was filed before Nugegoda Magistrate U.K. Pelpola, the Colombo Crime Division (CCD) was ordered to produce facts to court on January 17 on how the said voice recordings had been leaked to the media.
Counsel Asha Kahawatte who filed the motion on behalf of the MP questioned as to how the recordings were made public through media platforms.
Earlier, MP Ramanayake was arrested and remanded by the police on the charges of possessing a pistol sans a valid license under firearm ordinance. He was later released on bail by the Nugegoda Magistrate. (Nimanthi Ranasinghe)
