An investigation into the two missing T-56 assault rifles from the Panadura (North) Police Station has been handed over to the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), Police Spokesman SP Ruwan Gunasekera said.
An investigation was launched under the direction of Senior DIG in charge of the Western Province after the two T-56 assault rifles went missing from the police station on July 6.
Earlier, the Officer-In-Charge of the Panadura (North) Police, Inspector Prabath Paranawithana, had been suspended while another 11 police officers were transferred in connection with the incident. (DSB)
