The Peliyagoda Fish Market, which was temporarily closed due to the spread of Covid-19, would be re-opened for limited wholesale operations from tomorrow (16), Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Ministry said.
Ministry Secretary R. M. I. Ratnayake said the Peliyagoda Fish Market Complex has been completely renovated in accordance with the guidelines issued by the Ministry of Health.
Accordingly, it has been decided to reopen the Fish Market Complex for limited wholesale operations from December 16, subject to health guidelines, the secretary said.
The Peliyagoda Fish Market was temporarily closed on October 21 after several traders tested Covid-19 positive.
Since then, more than 25,000 persons linked to the Peliyagoda Fish Market cluster across the country tested positive with Covid-19.
