PM orders to register all Madrasas

Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa has ordered the Muslim Religious Affairs Department to register all Muslim religious schools (Madrasas) with the Department.

He also instructed officials of the Department to re-evaluate the curricula of all Madrasas and prepare an updated curriculum with the assistance of the Education Ministry.

Prime Minister Rajapaksa gave these orders during a progress review meeting of the Buddha Sasana, Religious Affairs and Cultural Affairs Ministry. ( Nalaka Sanjeewa Dahanayake)

    All religions schools should be monitored and regulated regardless of which religion or sect it belonged to. We do not want radical Moulavis, Monks or Priests. We have too many in many forms in this country who too busy propagating hatred instead of peaceful coexistence
