The Government Medical Officers’ Association (GMOA) today claimed that if the Western Province Health Service Director did not provide COVID-19 patients’ surveillance data, assurance cannot be given to prevent the spread of the virus to other districts.
Addressing the media GMOA Secretary Dr Shenal Fernando said the surveillances data of COVID-19 patients should be collected in the Western Province without delay, as the Western Province remains to be a very high-risk area.
“More attention should be given to the Western Province and the decisions should be taken without delay. Therefore, more details relating to the COVID-19 patients in the Province should be collected immediately,” he said.
Dr Shenal said not only ordinary data such as patient’s name, age and address but a comprehensive report on each patient should be obtained.
“So far not a single data was provided by the Western Province Health Service Director for the mapping,” he added. (Chaturanga Samarawickrama)
