How come MR an SLPP member appointed from UPDA. Also how come he continue to be an mp.

    Mandy Tuesday, 18 December 2018 02:42 PM

As Basil said yesterday only applications for membership received but NOT YET accepted as SLPP members. That is politics - of course sincerity questioned by one leg in each camp.

    shanthapriya Tuesday, 18 December 2018 03:17 PM

    malaka Tuesday, 18 December 2018 01:42 PM

MR has disgraced himself after he illegally occupied power. Now he is the opp leader. Only in SL these shameless people are given a position.

Mohammed Raffa Tuesday, 18 December 2018 01:42 PM

The right position to the Right Person at the right time to move towards the target of next year. Common MR!!!

    Mandayan Tuesday, 18 December 2018 03:38 PM

MR is continuing to play into the selfish games of MS who would go home in 11 months.

    Gayab Tuesday, 18 December 2018 01:42 PM

After 3 years we have an opposition in parliament.

    concern Tuesday, 18 December 2018 08:12 PM

Someone has spoken. In order to democracy to work, the country needs strong opposition. TN A was not strong enough. During Mr govt. rw was the opposition. Whenever there was a crisis he is not in the country. As a result Mr government did anything and everything.

    ish Tuesday, 18 December 2018 01:48 PM

Mr MR , you have quite a resume. So many job descriptions

    Sunil Tuesday, 18 December 2018 01:49 PM

    Power greedy ,

    samanthi Tuesday, 18 December 2018 02:24 PM

RW is the worst Not MR

Wise Donkey Tuesday, 18 December 2018 01:56 PM

For nearly 50 days he occupied the wrong chair by the misguidance of the president. Congratulations, you are in the rightful place now.

    ANTON Tuesday, 18 December 2018 01:56 PM

THANK GOD !!! DAMN CONFLICT ENDED UP BEFORE CHRISTMAS AND NEW YEAR.

    Ghost Tuesday, 18 December 2018 06:27 PM

However the three wise men have returned home!!!

    ANTON Tuesday, 18 December 2018 01:57 PM

NOW ALL ARE SATISFIED IN THE PARLIAMENT EXCEPT POOR CITIZENS

    mike Tuesday, 18 December 2018 02:01 PM

which means RW can do nothing. a well planned move. the PM post looks to be just ceremonial

    saman Tuesday, 18 December 2018 02:08 PM

    TNA = UNP JVP= UNP

    Saman Tuesday, 18 December 2018 02:23 PM

    SLPP = Dust bin

    mike Tuesday, 18 December 2018 03:39 PM

if SLPP is dust bin we are confused how they won a election after just 02 months of forming the party beating UNP/SLFP etc.. Seems majority does not view it that way. facts are stubborn

    Yahiya Tuesday, 18 December 2018 02:10 PM

    End of SLFP

    Congratulations Tuesday, 18 December 2018 02:11 PM

    Congratulations

    niroshan Tuesday, 18 December 2018 02:22 PM

    Congrats Sir ! But never allow your MP's to bring 'm i r i s k u d u' to the House !

    Udaya Tuesday, 18 December 2018 02:25 PM

Is there any other post left him to hold ???

    SL Tuesday, 18 December 2018 07:40 PM

PM post! In just 11 months!

    Bamuna Tuesday, 18 December 2018 03:05 PM

Think he will be an excellent opposition leader! As long as he stays exclusively an opposition leader!

    SL Tuesday, 18 December 2018 03:06 PM

It not does not matter what chair their sit as long as its a chair in the parliament! This is the beyond the boundaries of greediness, this is the state of Sri Lankan Politics.

    Nuwan Tuesday, 18 December 2018 04:02 PM

I don't get it. There is RW who has lost 29 times and still held on to his position. Anura Kumara or JVP leaders never go. Those who have no passion or hunger for power must not do politics.

Tom Jones Tuesday, 18 December 2018 03:13 PM

NAMASTE Mr. Mahinda Rajapakse. Another first in your political life.

    Hautaum Tuesday, 18 December 2018 04:02 PM

As looser is TNA as usual

    Sivaraj Tuesday, 18 December 2018 05:22 PM

How TNA was used to restore democracy, and now as usual they are thrown out. That is why we said at the beginning that TNA should have not involved in this crisis.

    Banda Tuesday, 18 December 2018 05:32 PM

They will lose it any way as if RW failed, he would have taken it.

Lord Wolfstein Tuesday, 18 December 2018 04:10 PM

This time, the inferior criminal dumped dictator has shamelessly exploited the democratic rules and installed his crooks and henchmen as official opposition.

    TJ Tuesday, 18 December 2018 04:23 PM

    Something is better than nothing

    Keeraipidi Tuesday, 18 December 2018 07:12 PM

Fantastic. Superb. Mega achievement of a former president, primeminster

    Mihiripenna Tuesday, 18 December 2018 05:06 PM

Congratulations sir. Up and onward, let us recover Sri Lanka from the bond scam neoliberal incompetents

    Hiran Tuesday, 18 December 2018 05:26 PM

Apparently MR is on the list of the worst parliament attendance. Hopefully it will improve after this appointment.

    VJ Tuesday, 18 December 2018 05:33 PM

He is harmless and shameless, he seldom attends parliament. Let’s get on with business.

    CITIZEN Tuesday, 18 December 2018 05:46 PM

Application of MR was entertained and ceased to be entertained by SLPP. So, technically, he remains a member of the UPFA, which helped MR!

    Vasa Tuesday, 18 December 2018 05:47 PM

SHAMELESS and insatiable greed for power and position.no self respect no dignity.only a false facade.

    Buddhist Tuesday, 18 December 2018 06:01 PM

This is a mistake the Speaker is making. Speaker should follow the constitution. When a member of a party leaves the party and takes membership in another party, that too a party which did not contest the election he or she should not have a seat in the Parliament. In such a circumstances how can Mahinda be in the Parliament that too as the Leader of the Opposition? Only way Mahinda can be a member of the Party is by giving in writing to the Speaker that he is still a member of SLFP and not SLPP and this should be confirmed by the Secretary of SLFP.

    Dharmakulasingham Tuesday, 18 December 2018 06:08 PM

This time democracy prevails. It is morally bad Mr.Sampanthan occupied the positionTNA is very much ilke an ally of UNP.TNA or Mr.Sampanthan never acted as an opposition party,Mr.Sampanthan never spoke for the whole country.

    Ghost Tuesday, 18 December 2018 06:30 PM

    He'll be opposing from Abeyramaya!!!

    Ryan Tuesday, 18 December 2018 06:48 PM

    Mr you have huge responsibility

    Keeraipidi Tuesday, 18 December 2018 07:15 PM

    OL with helicopter?

    Dperera Tuesday, 18 December 2018 07:44 PM

Country is heading to the right direction. Democracy works.
