The Colombo Chief Magistrate’s Court yesterday ordered the Bank of Ceylon (BoC) Senior Manager to submit the bank records to the FCID with regard to an organisation in Saudi Arabia which had transferred USD 100 million to the controversial Batticaloa Campus.
When the case was taken up before Colombo Chief Magistrate Lanka Jayarante, the FCID has informed the Magistrate that the complainant had requested to check whether the USD 100 million had been transferred by a banned company in Saudi Arabia.
The Magistrate ordered the Senior Operator of the Stock Exchange to provide financial records of the ‘Batticaloa Campus Private Limited’, a company which was carrying out an invest at the stock exchange.
It was also reported that the FCID will probe into the ‘Batticaloa Campus Private Limited’ financial records under the Money Laundering Act.
The Magistrate has ordered to provide stock exchange records of the directors of the company, Mohamed Hizbullah Ahamed Hiraz, Mohamed Hizbullah Hiwaz, Hizbullah Mohamed Shabdein, Mohamed Hikran, Ahamed Maheer Mohamed, Fazul Jafri, Mohamed Fazeer Mohamed Zurei, Sei Mohamed Ismail and Don Kamal Dharmasiri Tennakoon.
The FCID informed the Court that it will probe whether the funds which were given to the campus were legal funds used for the development of the campus, or used for terrorist purposes. (Yoshitha Perera)
