Cabinet Ministers to donate one month’s salary to COVID fund

Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa has endorsed a request made by Power, Energy and Commuter Transport Management Minister Mahinda Amaraweera to donate one month’s salary of all cabinet members to the COVID – 19 Healthcare and Social Security Fund, maintained by the Presidential Secretariat.

Accordingly, all cabinet Ministers would donate their May salary to the fund that had reached Rs. 822 million by Wednesday, Minister Amaraweera said.

Minister Amaraweera told Daily Mirror that he also donated Rs. 14.2 million to the COVOD 19 Fund, a collection of one month’s salary of employees of the CEYPETCO and Ceylon Petroleum Storage Terminal ltd. (CPST Ltd). (Sandun A Jayasekera)
