The Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) will purchase power from 38 small power plants to add 75 MW of electricity to the national grid, the Prime Minister's Media Division said yesterday.
It said the CEB will sign agreements with those power plants owned by the members of the local business community next week to purchase electricity.
Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa has instructed CEB Chairman Vijitha Herath to go ahead with the move as the agreements with the 38 power plants had been suspended during the tenure of the previous regime, the media division said. (Lahiru Pothmulla)
