Docs strike over death threat

A group of 870 doctors including Specialists, training doctors attached to the Kandy Teaching Hospital held a protest this morning urging the authorities to provide security for them, following a death threat to a doctor.

Due to the protest that lasted for over four hours the functioning of the Hospital came to a standstill, including the OPD.

Following a death of a sport official during an operation at the hospital, doctors have been receiving death threats by a several anonymous callers, doctors had said. They also revealed that later some leaflets had been distributed in the town accusing the doctors for the death of the sport official.

Later a special discussion was held between the Doctors and the Police, who assured to provide enough securities for the Doctors. (JAL)

Who would want to work in God-forsaken conditions, with a near-zero salary, without basic equipment, for the worst bunch of homo sapiens humanity has ever seen, and save miserable lives of people that keep making themselves ill, and further receive threats from these low-lives at the death of one of their herd? Why not disclose all the imformation such as who was the sports official, the name of the Doctor who conducted the operation , whether there are any complains made to the police, what action taken by the Police ( any arrests) etc. Then those involved will be more careful in the future

When was the last time he Doctors went on strike ???? Do you know the meaning of the word " murder " ???
As you, no doctor wants to commit murder. They deal with human lives, and human lives are unpreditable.
You also can go " POOF" anyday, anytime, without any rhyme or reason. Dot put the blame on the people who have to deal with you at that end.

A patient died on the fifth day after an appendectomy, he was quite well till his death. The report of the post-mortem is still to be braught into daylight.

But people like you, judge, and convict, and sentence to death, without trial, a group of people who look after you in your worst, to their best abiliy, undr trying conditions.

Shame on you. Can you people sleep well after such comments ???

Yes It 's a main hospital outside Colombo. Patients come from almost 8,9 Districts to Kandy Hospital..

May be politico behind it !
No doc under go any strike recently. if doc have neglected that should be inquired and punished systematically.
our doc have to cover massive duty work compared to a foreign doctor but with minimum hospital facilities
(even compared to India). it has become true what doc's were saying about corruption in the ex minister's period.
still the health system is not in properly administrated.
we should let educated people to run vital ministries in the future.
