The Government Medical Officers’ Association (GMOA) today handed over a letter to Presidential Secretariat outlining their proposals on resolving the SAITM matter. The letter has also been signed by the Parents’ Union of Medical Students (PUMS), Malabe Medical College Parents’ Forum and the Government Dental Surgeons Association. Pics by Nisal Baduge

This has gone far too long. If GMOA and parents have come to a joint settlement, I don't see why its not acceptable to the government. With the cabinet re-shuffle, bring in a minister who can do this.

These are antiSAITM GMOA with a SAITM parent to absorb to KDU. If absorb to a NEW STATE MED.FAC. requested by main SAITM parents Harsha committee, it is an immediate solution once and for all like Premadasa solution for NCMC whose admissions were a more mixed international crowd, but worked out very well legally.

Any solution should protect the right of students in the future to continue private medical education in the country.
