CICRA for the fifth consecutive year on the invitation from the United States Pacific Command (USPACOM), took part in the ‘Cyber Endeavor’ Programme and trained military officers from 28 nations on cyber security.
Meanwhile, CICRA’s Group Director/CEO Boshan Dayaratne spoke as a panelist at the five-day ‘Pacific Senior Communicators Meeting’ that represented nearly 150 top military officers from 28 countries. The two events were held recently inSilicon Valley, USA.
“We managed to make the audience realize the importance of cyber security about national defence and disaster recovery. We also received very positive feedback from the audience,” Dayaratne stressed.
“We are pleased to see that the US Pacific Command is taking a proactive role in cyber defence as part of disaster recovery and communication,” he said.
“Reactive cyber defence is a costlier exercise after the damage had already been done. CICRA encourages all sectors in the public and private sector to play a similar proactive role about cyber defence,” he said. The two events are part of the Multinational Communications Interoperability Program (MCIP) of the USPACOM. This program is designed to operationalize the goals of the MCIP and satisfy the intent of the USPACOM Theater Security Cooperation Program.
‘Cyber Endeavor’ programme is part of ‘Pacific Endeavor’ annual workshop series that helps to identify and document communications and information systems interoperability among the participants. The participants to this programme are from member nations of MCIP.
This program is designed to operationalize the goals of the MCIP and satisfy the intent of the USPACOM Theater Security Cooperation Programme.
Established in 2004, Pacific Endeavor is an annual workshop designed to confirm participating nations can communicate with one another in the event of a natural disaster and ensures the success of Humanitarian Assistance/Disaster Relief operations when there is a crisis.
