Isuru Avinda and Dhanuja Sandalindu steered Ananda Sastralaya, Kotte to a six-wicket win over traditional rivals St. John’s College, Nugegoda in their 23rd Annual Battle of Jayewardenepura Inter-School Cricket encounter played at the R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo yesterday.
The match which was scheduled to be played in late April was postponed due to the Easter Sunday catastrophe and the two schools decided the fixture to be played as a limited over.
St. John’s: 124 in 50 overs (Dewmin Prabashwara 65, Thanusha Sandaruwan 20, Isuru Avinda 5/22, Avishka Dilshan 2/21)
Ananda Sastralaya: 127/4 in 38 overs (Dhanuja Sandalindu 47, Hirusha Piyumal 24 n.o, Thanusha Sandaruwan 3/42).
