Services provide by the Postal Department to the public such as electronic money order facility, paying of water bills, electricity bills, insurance claim payments and pensions have been disrupted due to a system failure in the Department’s computer network.
Ceylon Postal Services Union (CPSU) President Jagath Mahinda said that despite accounts being maintained in all post offices and postal administrative offices island-wide, there was a network breakdown for the past several days.
He did not rule out sabotage in the sudden and island-wide system failure which has resulted in causing severe inconvenience to the public.
He pointed out that the most affected people were the pensioners in the debacle.
