A demonstration was held opposite the Elephant Orphanage by its employees during their lunch interval yesterday in
Pinnawala, Kegalle.
The Trade Union Collective of the Zoological Gardens said that there was no solution for the long standing shortcomings of the employees in spite of the fact that they created awareness among authorities concerned. The protesters held placards displaying various slogans such as “Give us the uniforms in time”, “ Increase the risk allowance “ Increase the attendance allowance” and “ Shift the head office immediately to Dehiwala” .
There were about 80 participants for this demonstration and they emphasized the fact they would stage a continuous strike if the authorities would not take appropriate action in this regard.
