Perera, who did research in order to assemble a ceiling fan regulator for the first time, is presently pursuing his PhD in Kent State University in USA.

Professor S. R. D. Kalingamudali of the Department of Physics and Electronics, University of Kelaniya said that the significance of this invention underscored the fact that a mobile phone could be used to operate more than one ceiling fan at any give time.
The Research Council of the University of Kelaniya is conducting research on a number of inventions.

As a result of the research conducted by the Department of Physics and Electronics, this creation has successfully been acknowledged as an invention in November 2014.
