While extending gratitude to the army personnel for the service they render for the security of the people, Archbishop of Colombo His Eminence Cardinal Malcolm Ranjith said no one should let any force destroy the life of human beings.

Cardinal Ranjith expressed these views in the presence of Army Commander Lt. Gen. Shavendra Silva at the annual Christmas carol programme organised by the Sri Lanka Army at the Nelum Pokuna Theatre yesterday.

“The army personnel are dedicated to ensuring protection of human life and that they fight to protect good people from bad risking their lives. That is why army personnel should be honoured and respected. Likewise, we should also be ready to be committed and dedicated in order to save the lives of people. We should be able to make any sacrifice to save lives,” the Head of the local Roman Catholic church said.

He said they were grateful for the commitments made by the three armed forces in the endeavour to ensure the security of the citizens of Sri Lanka.

The Archbishop said the Easter Sunday attack was a result of an arbitrary act by a misguided gang. (Sheain Fernandopulle)

his holiness malcom ranjith peiris please stop politicizing our most prestigious roman catholic religion. now we can see almost one article from cardinal each week but this trend was not there so stop your media briefings hereafter we as catholics is fed up with your political approach.i have already sent a message to holy pope regarding your present behavior.

Agree. Cardinal should call all Christians for fasting and prayer until the real culprits are exposed. What man can't do God can. What has he achieved by lamenting before media since the day of the attack.

I too agree with you Rohan. He is a disgrace to the Roman Catholic faith in SL. I never thought He would give such prominence to celebrate Christmas this year as we faced a carnage

Cardinal is carrying political agenda, rather than helpping victims of attacked, because most.of them are Tamil Roman Catholics.

My friend, pl don't discriminate in that manner. For us Catholics all are the same, Children of God. Remember the most number was killed in Negombo. Don't think only of those who died at the churches.
