The new Prime Minister will be sworn in immediately after the election results are announced either on August 7 or 8 if Sri Lanka Podujana Eksath Peramuna (SLPP) wins the General Election, informed political sources said.
Plans are in place for the swearing in of the Prime Minister first if the SLPP wins. Afterwards, the Cabinet of Ministers will take oath. The SLPP has also ruled out a national government in the event of its victory at the parliamentary elections.
The Election Commission will take polling tomorrow countrywide to elect members to the next Parliament.
