Chartered Accountant, Lasantha Wickremasinghe was inducted as the 23rd President of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka (CA Sri Lanka) on January 26, 2016 in the presence of a distinguished audience including senior government officials, corporate leaders and international accounting personalities. Wickremasinghe, a prominent Chartered Accountant, was ceremoniously inducted by outgoing President Arjuna Herath in the presence of Speaker of Parliament Karu Jayasuriya, Finance Minister Ravi Karunanayake and International Federation of Accountants’

SMP Committee Chairman Dr. Giancarlo Attolini. He is a fellow member of CA Sri Lanka and counts for 20 years of experience and is a Partner at B.R. De Silva & Co. Chartered Accountants. He has served in the CA Sri Lanka Council since 2006 and prior to his induction as President, he was Vice President from 2014 to 2015. Wickremasinghe serves as a Board Member of the Confederation of Asian Pacific Accountants (CAPA), the regional organisation representing national accountancy organisations in the Asia-Pacific region, and is a Technical Advisor to the Board of the South Asian Federation of Accountants (SAFA), which is an apex body of the South Asian Association for Regional Co-operation (SAARC). He chairs SAFA’s Improvement in Transparency, Accountability and Governance Committee (ITAG) and is a Member of the Board of Directors of the Sri Lanka Accounting and Auditing Standards Monitoring Board. He also serves as an Ex-Officio Member of the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). A product of Nalanda College, Wickremasinghe, whose experience spans the industry sectors of banking, finance, insurance, lotteries, plantation, manufacturing and services, has also served as Chairman of several CA Sri Lanka committees including the National Conference Committee (2012 and 2013),

Annual Report Awards Committee (2008 and 2011), Examinations Committee (2010-2011) and the Training and Student Development Committee (2006-2009). He also served as the Treasurer of the Organisation of Professional Association of Sri Lanka (OPA) from 2009 to 2010 and is also a Committee Member of the IFRS Implementation Task Force (Urgent Issues Task Force) of CA Sri Lanka. Meanwhile, Jagath Perera was appointed as Vice President of CA Sri Lanka. A fellow member of CA Sri Lanka and a graduate of the University of Sri Jayewardenepura, Perera is a Partner at KPMG Sri Lanka and has served in the CA Sri Lanka Council since 2010. He chairs the Examination Committee and the SMP Capacity Building Task Force and as well as serves as the Chairman of the Operations Review Committee of CA Sri Lanka. Perera was the Chairman of the Student Training and Development Committee and at present serves as a board member of Sri Lanka Accounting and Auditing Standards Monitoring Board. He is also a member of SMPs, Anti- Corruption and also the Professional Ethics and Independence Committees of SAFA.
