The UNP is preparing to take stern disciplinary action against atleast 90 of its party members for supporting the government and working against the UNP party policies, UNP General Secretary Tissa Attanayaka told Daily Mirror online.

Attanayaka said that the Disciplinary Board of the UNP had urged the Disciplinary Committee to expedite investigations into the conduct of these party members and take stern action if they are found to be working against the UNP.

According to Attanayaka, the complaints include speaking or carrying out activities against the party, working and supporting the government and creating rifts among party members. (Daily Mirror online)

Yes Sri Lanka needs a clean up of the opposition. Kick out all the ruffians and wrong doers and at the same time kick out the Porridge and Vauxhall Street case Hajiyar.

All these 90 selected to play for UNP but they are batting for government. There may be a problem with captain and vice captain?if they change captain and VC they may start batting for UNP again.

in this instance many of our comments are made against our premier politician Cadar Nana, in fact one thing people must understand though cadar nana is a politician but he is a businessman by profession, the recent tax reduction on vehicles had made him to find an alternative way to come out of his problem, that is the main reason why he is siding with the rulling party now.

    joke of the day !!!

    Wednesday, 09 June 2010 11:58 AM

Ultimately UNP will be like an empty bucket, all the good ones
    deserted and the rot remains.

    Wednesday, 09 June 2010 11:58 AM

Lets hope that this is not a which hunt against those who are anti-Ranil

There was a time when Mr K.N. Choksy hardly lost a legal battle on behalf of the UNP. Why is it falling apart now? Most of the rifts within the UNP are caused by the instigation of the president or other members of the government, and the UNP needs to have the machinery to counter this. They also need to be more aggressive in whatever they do. The present lethargic attitude has been the cause of many a failure, both in discipline and also in its day to day functions.

@ Mr. Hussein : by the time all the usless characters are "kicked-out", the as it is decimated opposition will be in extinct.... for a fact there isn't anybody who has not had contact with the ruling party for some gain or the other.

    Wednesday, 09 June 2010 10:45 AM

    That should also include RW.

    Wednesday, 09 June 2010 10:05 AM

Take action against Sajith for causing rifts in the party.

    Wednesday, 09 June 2010 10:04 AM

Whatever you do at the end it goes before the law. Then you would become abide by the law. Now the Law is favourable for those who violated party constitutions and the ruling party.Waste of time & resources.

    Better Late than never

    Wednesday, 09 June 2010 09:27 AM

Apart from the hapless leader and the secretary, will there be any one else left in the party?

    Wednesday, 09 June 2010 09:21 AM

If you and your other 4 clans resign from the party, UNP will be well disciplined automatically.

    Wednesday, 09 June 2010 09:17 AM

Both the leader and the general secretary are not fit to hold these positions. They keep on talking about various matters but nothing in deed. Voter confidence is gradually eroding and very soon the people will call for probes on the UNP hierarchy and these jokers will have to get lost. The proverbial phrase "Dog in the manger" aptly suits them. What a sad state of affairs!

    Wednesday, 09 June 2010 09:06 AM

No point taking action. there will be no opposition in the country for another 30 years. Mr will be in power somehow. God bless Sri Lanka

    Wednesday, 09 June 2010 09:06 AM

There is no point in taking only disciplinary action against them they should also find out what was the cause for them to act in such a manner and rectify that.If not a time will come that there wont be any member in the UNP to take action against or to inqurie.

    Wednesday, 09 June 2010 08:58 AM

Jokers are going to take action against another set of Jokers....

    Wednesday, 09 June 2010 08:34 AM

Mr.Attanayake, the reason for dissipation among the party members is the result of your pary hirachy, not having a feasable party policy that all can accept and understand. Before going for action you have a lot of explaining to do your self and the leader. You and the leaders are only using the prerogative without a real reason inorder to gain time.Your days are numbered. The damage to the party and the country is already done.At this point of time, the president is much better than you guys.
    .

    Wednesday, 09 June 2010 08:25 AM

Use letters of resignation obtained before the election for members like Cadar.

    Wednesday, 09 June 2010 08:24 AM

UNP needs a total...completely total change.....they should change away from old political style and capture peoples hearts and minds if they are to ever win again....!!!

    Wednesday, 09 June 2010 08:14 AM

Kick all useless guys out. Keep only the Loyal, Educated Classy, Committed members. Frauds, Doublecrosses High & Long Jumpers will joing the govt.
