Two killed by lightning; three injured

Two people including a six-year-old girl were killed and three others injured by lightning at Manikkampitiya in Kinniya and Pudukuduirippu.

Police said a 45-year-old brick-maker was killed and his helper injured when they were struck by lightning while making bricks at a farm in Manikkampitiya. The injured man was admitted to the Kinniya hospital.

Meanwhile, a six-year-old girl was killed and her parents were injured when struck by lightning struck at Pudukuduirippu last evening. The parents were admitted to the Pudukuduirippu hospital. (Chaturanga Pradeep)
