Ten PC Ministers swear-in

Some 10 newly appointed Ministers of the Western and North Western Provincial Councils were sworn-in before President Maithripala Sirisena this morning at the President’s House.

Western Province Chief Minister Isura Devapriya and North Western Chief Minister Dharmasiri Dasanayake were sworn in as the Finance and Planning, Engineering Service, Law and Order, Local Governments and Provincial Administration, Economic Development, Power and Energy, Environment, Water Supply and Tourist Ministers of the two provinces.

Western Province Councillor Gamini Thilakasiri was sworn in as the Minister of Agriculture, Lands, Irrigation, Animal products, Health and Govijana Development.

Councillor Lalith Wanigarathna was sworn in as Minister of Fisheries, Roads, Transports, Co-operative development and Commerce, Housing and constructions, Infrastructure Development, Industry and Rural Development.

Western Provincial Councillor Nishantha Sri Warnasingha was appointed as the Health, Indigenous Medicine, Social affairs, Probation and Child affairs, Women’s affairs and Council affairs Minister.

Meanwhile, North Western Province Councillor Gunadasa Dehigama was appointed as Minister of Roads, Transports, Co-operative development & commerce, Housing and Constructions and Rural Development.

Samantha Kumara Rajapaksa was appointed as the Minister of Education, Cultural Affairs, Sports and Youth Affairs and Telecommunications
Lakshman Harishchandra was appointed as Minister of Health, Indigenous Medicine, Social affairs, Probation and Child affairs, Women’s affairs and Council affairs.

W.J. Sumal Thisera was appointed as Agricultural, Lands, Irrigation, Fisheries, Animal products and Govijana Development Minister.

North Western Province Governor Amara Piyasili Ratnayaka and President’s Secretary P.B. Abeykoon were also present at the swearing-in ceremony. (Lahiru Pothmulla)

    We wish all the Minister Good Luck and best wishes. Please see if you can develope the city by road which is prevented by somebody trying to widen the road,for the last several years we the residents of Iswary Road, Pamankada,Wellawatte have written to several Minister, At least we trusted and gave our Premier the Colombo votes excepting him to do a good job.This road is always traffic congested during morning ,evenings as it has been made one way and the road been narrow in the middle and towards the end of the roads. I hope we wiii get some relief by this government .

    Are these provincial councils of any use to the public. It has only increased bribery and corruption, not to mention harassment of the public by the members.We already have a bloated cabinet burdening the treasury.Do away with these Councils. Let the country have simple administration, but honest.
