Pro LTTE groups attempted to attack the Speaker of Parliament W.J.M Lokubandara when he visited a Hindu Temple in Mailapur, Tamil Nadu today, Chennai’s SUN TV reported. The speaker was escorted out of the Temple under tight security following the incident.
According to the report the Speaker of Parliament had visited the Temple as part of his visit to several other Temples in the area for religious observances. However several groups who gathered outside one Temple began shouting anti Sri Lankan slogans and had later made an attempt to get close to the Speaker to attack him.
The police however escorted Mr. Lokubandara into a vehicle and drove him away under tight security. (DM online)
