The ailing mother of slain LTTE leader Vellupillai Prabakaran, who was taken to Jaffna from Colombo yesterday, was hospitalized last evening, Tamil media reports in Jaffna said this morning.

Parvathi Pillai, who was earlier offered a temporary visa to India for medical treatment, was admitted to the Vellvetithurai hospital last evening.

Prabakaran’s mother was earlier in Malaysia but was brought down to Sri Lanka earlier this week and stayed at a lodge in Colombo. When Daily Mirror online visited the lodge this week she was bed ridden. (Daily Mirror online)

Kavitha. Say that to the families of the hundreds of police officers who surrendered to the LTTE in the East on President Premadasa's instructions. Remember them Kavitha? Or do you prefer to ignore it? Those police officers were all beheaded - all of them by the ruthless barbaric tamil terrorists!

She is a dying old lady, and we should be looking after her.
    She is like my mother.

    God bless her.

    Thursday, 13 May 2010 11:07 AM

Please treat this lady humanly.Look at her condition in a humane manner. Her son did all what he could do to destroy our nation.still we must be sympathatic to the plight of this lady.I request that the government get involoved to see this lady do not suffer any more in the last stage of her life.

    Thursday, 13 May 2010 10:35 AM

DMS, she is just another citizen of the SL, Why should she get preferential treatment, like airlifting? I do respect that she is a mother BUT she is not superior to any other mother from the north/south east or west. Just coz she is a mother of a terrorist doesnt mean she has blood in her hands, nevertheless she cannot be meted out SPECIAL TREATMENT. There are many monthers dieing all over Sri-Lanka, would anyone care to consider giving them preferential treatment?I respect her as a mother BUT dont agree on being treated special. All are equal citizens of mother Lanka.

    Thursday, 13 May 2010 10:17 AM

She is a mother, we cant blame her for praba's ruthless behaviour and she is not responsible for what praba had done. we all know every family has different kind of children. please treat her with dignity afterall she is a Sri Lanken

    Thursday, 13 May 2010 10:10 AM

It's the mother who has the biggest impact of a Sons life. thats where we learn most of our basics..Up to you to decide whether true or not (If you were brought up by your neighbors this might not be true)

    Thursday, 13 May 2010 09:51 AM

Well done to Sri Lankan Gov for showing humanitarian compassion. Shame on you India and your arrogance. This is not what Ghandhi expected your socity to be. I hope the poor woman spends her remaining days at peace back in her own homeland regardless to her history.

    Thursday, 13 May 2010 09:40 AM

The blame and shame lies with her prosperous daughter living in luxury in Canada. She has no compassion for her own flesh and blood. Has the mighty LTTE supporters all over the world shown any generosity at all for their bosses mum? Instead they are exploiting her for propaganda. Few $ a month would get her best care in a Private Hoispital. This alone proves how ungrateful the lot are.

    Thursday, 13 May 2010 09:40 AM

India is a selfish nation. We sri lankans should never forget that.

    Thursday, 13 May 2010 11:47 AM

It is sad that she had to give birth to a murderer and suffer at this age. Poor lady, hope she will recover soon.

    Thursday, 13 May 2010 09:06 AM

    well said

    Thursday, 13 May 2010 08:51 AM

Please all the above commentors remember that the captives who were in LTTE custody till the end of war (ARMY, NAVY personal) were looked after well and released with humanity.. They were not killed or tortured for what their government did to tamil people.. you can talk to any of the personal who were released to ask how they were looked after.. be honest when you make comments.. and don't just write your comment based on your anger on LTTE

    Thursday, 13 May 2010 08:50 AM

The above comments are touching because it shows humanity and compassion. Mother must be treated with due respect.

    Thursday, 13 May 2010 08:43 AM

They do care and as per Sivajilingam, they have sumbmitted application for visa.. but we appreciate for Sri Lankan's who help the mother...

    Thursday, 13 May 2010 08:13 AM

She should NOT pay any price for what his son did. She is a Sri Lankan, after all she is a mother. We should give her the best medi-care we have. May Triple Gems Bless You. We Sri Lankans are not angry with you.

    Thursday, 13 May 2010 08:02 AM

This is very true.. we should treat the lady as she is a Sri Lankan.

I agree with you dagobert.. These tamils are very good at getting things for nothing. It's the same in the west where they are spreading. They get their housing, schools for children and many more benifits.. ALL FOR FREE. No wonder West is in economic crisis..

    Thursday, 13 May 2010 07:56 AM

It is really despicable that India, who used her son to wreak havoc in Sri Lanka by training tiger cubs with the blessings of then Prime Minister Indira Gandhi; is now turning a blind eye to the desperate mother of that megolomaniac Prabhakaran. Shows the true colours of India's utter selfishness.

    Thursday, 13 May 2010 07:52 AM

    Well said.

It is great to see all the compassion here.

It is so heartening to see the comments of Sinhalese people here. I am not looking at Sri Lankan people as Sinhalese, Tamils and Muslims, but this is something that needs to be highlighted and will help towards eliminating racist thinking.

    Thursday, 13 May 2010 12:11 PM

Let us show compassion. Let us understand the agony of a mother who has a killer as a son.

    Thursday, 13 May 2010 12:33 PM

As a Sri Lankan citizen I find this situation to be extremely sad. I woudln't wish even my worst enemy to be in this state. From a humanitarian point of view no one should be treated like dirt.
Let's not forget the fact we were all created by ONE GOD & Just because of her son's behavior we cannot totally blame the mother.
I totally agree our parents are sure the fundamental institution for our upbringing but at the same time EACH ONE OF US HAVE A CHOICE. They show us the right and wrong but if we decide to take the wrong path who is to be blamed?

    Thursday, 13 May 2010 12:34 PM

My prayer is that she should have a peaceful death and not to be taken from pillar to post. Its ridiculous.
On behalf of the tamil community I apologise for all the trouble caused in the past years. I WISH WE CAN TRUE LIVE UP TO THE SAYING "SRI LANKA LAND LIKE NO OTHER" Why cant we respect and treat each other as ONE in CREATION. If each one of us respect each other simply for the fact they are human beings and not tamils, sinhalese, burgars, Malays, English, Black whatever for that matter this world would sure be a better place.

    Thursday, 13 May 2010 12:49 PM

Let us make an impact in our own circle. Often we are concerned about the wider circle that we forget the inner circle in which we can contribute and make an impact.
I've never had any issues with my sinhalese friends and we have got along just like brothers. WHY CANT WE ALL BE THE SAME?

    Thursday, 13 May 2010 12:59 PM

She is a old women now. What Sri Lanka should do is to treat her with the best care on government funds. It will be good example to show the world that Sri Lanka is a free thinking country. Or we can choose to blame her with all the words we know for the bloodthrust of her Son to show that we are too arrogent like the ruling class in India.
    Sri Lanka Haritha Sandanaya

    Thursday, 13 May 2010 01:01 PM

In Sri Lanka - Worlds most ruthless terrorists mother is treated humanely.
in UK - Osama bin Laden's stepsons wife who is a british woman is harrased by neighbours and authorities and had to leave the country!

And they preach us human rights!!!

    Thursday, 13 May 2010 02:03 PM

What can the mother do. How many children listen to their parents? Do the ministerial offspring listen to the advice given by their parents.

    Thursday, 13 May 2010 02:18 PM

I hope she will get well soon, let's leave the past behind.

    Thursday, 13 May 2010 02:26 PM

SOMETIMES, MOTHERS ARE UNABLE TO DEAL WITH WHAT THEIR IDIOT SONS DO.

    Thursday, 13 May 2010 04:06 PM

I went straight to read comments, As I was reading I remembered how her son killed innocent Men women and children, one striking memory came to me when LTTE butchered a Sinhala village there was a infant crying, nearby there was a hot oil pan because the mother had been preparing food at that time
One LTTE carder seeing the baby and hot oil pan, in minutes Baby was thrown in to the oil very brutally,

Remembering this I had a resentful thought but then I went to the article and saw this Women and felt sad. Its funny how this human mind works!!

    Friday, 14 May 2010 01:38 AM

    What a Joke..
If this mother had any say for her son to stop the killing of innocent, then the current govt should listen to ppls of the country and release illeagally detained SF.
At least she is lucky to get proper treatment, when SF can't even get proper doctors...

    Friday, 14 May 2010 03:31 AM

This is the truth of the matter.

    Friday, 14 May 2010 03:37 AM

She should not subjected to any special treatment on the expense of the government. if the Tamil diaspora are so concerned about her wellbeing they can send money for the special treatments.

    Friday, 14 May 2010 04:26 AM

What about the 800 policemen who were killed in cold blood after layingdown arms during premadasa era ceasefire??is that compassion??the amount of POW released by LTTE are only a handful rest of the men were used as living blood banks to draw blood until they died or used for target practice by the LTTE baby brigade.

    Friday, 14 May 2010 07:05 AM

We Sri Lankanas consider she as a mother of any one of us. She must be regretting having a son like VP. Now forget everything and we will look after her. I am sure our President being a very kind hearted person will offer her the best medical attention available in the Island by bringing her to Colombo. We Sri Lankans living abroad ready to finance her medical bills if requested.

    Thursday, 13 May 2010 04:31 AM

SHE is a sri lankan citizen,an individual who had no connection to any thing other than being a mother.MOTHER !!!! PLEASE TREAT THIS WOMAN WITH DIGNITY,AND WE A COMPASSIONATE PEOPLE .

    Thursday, 13 May 2010 05:25 AM

Why she went to Malaysia when there are best doctors in Sri Lanka? She would have got best medical treatment in Sri Lanka without running around world and making a scene out the situation. Whose bright idea is this?

    Thursday, 13 May 2010 05:11 AM

"dilshan.... Whatever happens we must treat her well as a sri Lankan"

Yes... We should & we shall.........
But, these Tamils are a Self centered Selfish lot of people. However much they receive or whatever is given or provided its not enough.
Wait and see, how they will begin to criticise treatment meted out to Velu's mother.
these Tamils want to get everything free from whereever they can. Thats their mentality. Whinning all the time.

    Thursday, 13 May 2010 05:06 AM

I totally agree with you Deva. U cannot blame her for the sins her son made....

    Thursday, 13 May 2010 04:59 AM

Treat her as a Sri Lankan citizen. She has no blood on her hands. She too may have regrets about the son she produced and sufferred in silence.

    Thursday, 13 May 2010 04:56 AM

It all depends on how you treat Tamils.

    Thursday, 13 May 2010 04:54 AM

Nalaka Panabokke, Hats off to you for your highly humanitarian statement.

    Thursday, 13 May 2010 04:48 AM

We should treat that lady in the best possible way....after all she is a mother and she belongs to our country.....

    Thursday, 13 May 2010 04:35 AM

I doubt whether she was being a good mother when her son was murdering little chldren . He fed you on collected money from tamil despora's funds

    Thursday, 13 May 2010 05:27 AM

Mothers could not be blamed for childern's misdeeds. As good hearted Sri Lankans, we must look after her well.Let by gones be by gones

    Thursday, 13 May 2010 04:29 AM

    Went all over the world tarnishing the SL's image and her terrorist son terrorised the country for nearly three decades killing every innocent man and woman and child that he called Sinhalese/Buddhist in his every speech on so-called Maveera Days. She is the Mother of Terrorist of All Terrorism - but we as Sinhalese/Buddhist, how can we look the otherway when she is in destitute pathatic condition? We have all the encompassing love and kindness to render them with a large heart. Render her best medical facilities and treat her with our human qualities and dignity;

    Thursday, 13 May 2010 04:29 AM

She should not be paying for the sins of Prabakarn. I am sure the Government or someone or an institution will come forward to help her get the best medical attention in Colombo or Kandy.

This will be a good gesture and act of goodwill.

May the blessings of the triple gem and all the devas be with her and pray for speedy recovery.

    Thursday, 13 May 2010 04:19 AM

Poor lady. After all the sadness she had to endure because of that beastly son of her's, it must have broken her heart. I dont think any mother would like to have given birth to a harbringer of death and destruction.
Hope she recovers and lives out the remainder of her life in peace.

    Thursday, 13 May 2010 04:11 AM

whatever happens in the past we must treat her well as sri lankans.

    Thursday, 13 May 2010 04:04 AM

    However, you are a Mother.

    Thursday, 13 May 2010 03:40 AM

We sincerely hope that in all your future lives you will never ever produce another Prabhakaran.

    Thursday, 13 May 2010 03:16 AM

It is a slap on the face of Indian arrogance. You cant hang dead old Parvathi Pillai for the crimes of Velupillai Prabakaran. If that is the rule all the Congress party Indians should be hanged for the crimes of IPKF in Jaffna. Let us Sri Lankans treat our citizen Parvathy Pillai with our own medicine and by our own doctors.

    Thursday, 13 May 2010 02:57 AM

I hope you will get better soon!

    Thursday, 13 May 2010 05:28 AM

Dagobert: Well . Did you know what you said. People like you trying to divide the country like for Sinhalese, Tamils and Musilms. I do not think people like you are in our country.
    Sarath

    Thursday, 13 May 2010 05:36 AM

act fast she is in hospital now? Military can we do some thing. AF can we get her to colombo and look after. ?

    Thursday, 13 May 2010 05:38 AM

Her daughter in Toronto doesnt care ,but sri lankans do

    Thursday, 13 May 2010 06:03 AM

A good example to the people who think only about themselves......poor lady is paying for her sons sins....I hope everyone learn a lesson out of this......but then again no one can change fate.....!!!

    Thursday, 13 May 2010 06:14 AM

Poor old lady let she recover fast.

Sri Lankan government should take measures to give best medical treatments here or abroad. That will be more professional and (more than anything ) Sri Lankan indeed.

Talking of the past where she could not influence her son to change his mind now has no relevance.

    Thursday, 13 May 2010 06:15 AM

We can not blame her for her son's actions

    Thursday, 13 May 2010 06:28 AM

Hatred never seize by hatred. But it seize by love.

    Thursday, 13 May 2010 06:41 AM

Well...I am from the minority in Sri Lanka and I proud to read most of the comments here. Forget race and religion - we all are people...Sri Lankans for Sri Lankans.....of course there'll be a few idiots like "dagobert"....he should rename himself as "DOG_bert".....Cheers Sri Lanka...IF WE STICK TOGETHER...WE WILL BE NATION LIKE NO OTHER.

    Thursday, 13 May 2010 06:52 AM

"""""GREAT COMMENTS AND SUPPORT FROM ALL THE SINHALESE FOLKS"""""

DEAR TAMIL DIASPORA: WHERE R U NOW? OPEN YOUR EYES AND SEE FOR YOUR SELF THE FACT. SRI LANKA IS A GREAT COUNTRY. AT LEAST NOW START PROMOTING FOR THE BETTERMENT.

    Thursday, 13 May 2010 07:02 AM

Here LTTE proxies in India and Sri Lanka are playing a different ball game altogether using this innocent (?) woman.

    Thursday, 13 May 2010 07:14 AM

Govt look after them until her daughter gave permission to a TNA MP to takecare of her. She was taken to a daughter in Malasiya. May be the VP's siblings do not want to look after her. Her pension from SL government is not enough for them. She is a Sri Lankan. Let her live and die Sri Lankan

    Thursday, 13 May 2010 07:15 AM

pay the same sympathy as Lord Budda paid to Angulimaala. It is not her fault but that of her lunatic son.She should be treated as a Mother and not as a enimy.

    Thursday, 13 May 2010 07:18 AM

We don't take revenge on parents for their childrens misdeeds. We are a nation that shows compassion to all .She is a Srilankan Mother lets treat her well and show the world our good qualities

    Thursday, 13 May 2010 07:43 AM

she is a mother after all, she is a sri lankan, we must take care her

    Thursday, 13 May 2010 07:46 AM

Its very sad as a common man to see; there are no chidren around to take care of the parents when they get old. Mr.Velupillai or his wife never approved their child Prabaharan's misdeed.
