A weapon believed to have belonged to the late LTTE leader Vellapullai Prabakaran was found buried, together with a large stock of other military items in the Vellamulliwaikkal area in Mulaitivu.
Senior DIG for Vavuniya Nimal Lewke had confirmed that the weapon found, a M-16A2 with a grenade launcher, was that used by the LTTE leader as his personal weapon. The gun had been found together with a body hummer.
According to initial reports the military items; that were buried at least 15 feet underground, was found last evening by the Special Crimes Unit of the Killinochchi Police, and is now in the process of being transported to the Vavuniya Senior DIG’s Office.
125 suicide kits, 50 mortar bombs, 25 anti aircraft guns are among some of the items that have been counted so far.
