A complaint had been lodged with the Jaffna police by an American claiming the growl of the next door dog was distressing him.

The complainant was an American engineer of a water project in Jaffna. He had also complained against the next door rooster.

When the case was taken up in the police, they advised the owners of the dog to remove it before August 5.  The owner was a Grama Niladhari. (Priyantha Hewage)

If my neighbors a dog and rooster are constantly making a noise i too will do the same. Do not look at this as an issue regarding an American.

It is a reasonable request from the American man. Someone else's pet or guard shouldn't be a niucence to another one. That is the level of independence and privacy these westerners enjoying.

An American attempts to deny a dog's 1st Amendment rights; not to mention the rooster's as well. I think the inhabitants of the north have had enough of their rights taken away already. The Police should have asked the American to move.

We should not laugh about this. Neighbours can be of great disturbance. What if we can't complain about that to the police? Then we can say we have no rights left!
