Halal separation not practical: JHU

While commending the statement made by the All Ceylon Jamiyyathul Ulama (ACJU) to separate Halal and non Halal certificated goods, the Jathika Hela Urumaya today said such a separation would not work in practice.

Pointing out the facts in the standard operation procedure for Halal Certification published for the Product Sector, JHU General Secretary and Minister Patali Champika Ranawaka told a news conference that ACJU guideline showed whole procedure of Halal certification should not blend together with any of the other non Halal items.

“According to their standards for creating Halal food, the ingredients should be Halal. Handling, process, transportation, machineries, equipment and storage all should be done separately. Even the workers in a non Halal section of a factory can’t interact with the Halal section. And the two products should come in different colours,” the minister said.“Their statement is not as innocent as it seems.

The guideline says it all. We do not want a separation in society.” (Jayashika Pathmasiri and Lahiru Pothmulla)

Halal certification not required in srilanka, If any wants pure halal food they can properly import by paying all taxes and eat. leave the public to decide. When vegetarians are eating only vegetarian meals. let any one wanting their food eat it accordingly. Do not make this a big issue, lots of other burning issues are yet to be solved.

Companies whichever would like to go with Halal Certification should have their free will to do so and what made the Hon. Minister to worry about???

If sorting our Halal and Haram was that easy muslims would have complained it before anyone else could have to the grand mosque and muslim religious leaders. The meat can be halal but the ingredients included to prepare it may contain some non halal additions in it. Even water can be halal but the preservatives included can contain some haram additions in it. I hope u understand this brother.

halal means permissible. before halall consumers use to decide themselves. but some halal consumers were mislead by wrong halal laabels on products. so halal certification makes it easy for a halall consumer to buy the product direct without hesitation even if they are a local or tourist or for export purpose. any one can consume halal. its just certifiying the process. theres no need to fight over this. life is short. live happy with peace and help to build a better sri lanka. via DM Android App
