The United Kingdom has updated its travel advisory on Sri Lanka advising UK travelers to be cautious of possible election law violence in view of the presidential elections to be held on January 08, 2015.
“Political rallies and election campaigns in Sri Lanka have occasionally turned violent. Attacks could be indiscriminate, including in places frequented by expatriate and foreign travelers should avoid any political gatherings or rallies,” the advisory issued by the UK Foreign and Commonwealth Office stated.
