High Court Judge Sunil Rajapakse imposed death sentence on three brothers from Peliyagoda today for killing a man identified as Oliver Fredrick Stephen on April 30, 2000 at Peliyagoda by stabbing him with knives.
The Judge imposed this sentence on Dadallage Ajith Pathmakumara alias Chuka, Dadallage Lalith alias Chuta, and Dadallage Ananda alias Kukka .
The Prosecution stated that the suspects had killed the victim while the victim was traveling in a motor bike subsequent to appearing at the Peliyagoda Police station to sign his appearance at the Police station consequent to a court order.
At the trial it was revealed that at time of the incident, the motor bike had headed towards a fair held to celebrate Sinhala and Hindu New Year. The accused who followed the victim had slashed the back of the victim's neck with a kitchen knife and thereafter had stabbed the victim with knives.
