A Civil Defence Force home guard, who is alleged to have assaulted the Ratugala Veddha Chief Danigala Mahabandiyalage Suda Vanniyale Ettho was arrested by the Inginiyagala Police.
The Vedda Chief in his complaint said the home guard had forcibly entered his house, threatened to kill him and severely assaulted him after dragging him outside.
Police inquiries revealed that a dispute was over the home guard preventing the Veddha community from having access to a public well on the land occupied by him.
The constant protest by the Veddah Chief appeared to have irritated the home guard and led to him beating the elderly man. It is alleged that the home guard had demolished a public well on the land and erected a fence around it. (Prasanna Padmasiri)

We presumd brutal police force was confined only to the non Vedda communities and only inside or near Police Stations.
The Policeman has acted alike a Veddha, and behaved like ananimal when he destroyed a common well. The veddas have a traditional right to the land and properies within the confines of his vedaland, from whith forthwith Chase the Cop after prosecuting him

These things happen because veddhas are enrolled to police and other security organisations.

It is important to investigate on whoes behalf the attacker assualted the Vaddah Chief. The thug certainly must have been protecting the interest of some ruling party corrupt politician.
