Actress turned politician Anarkali Akarsha says she is very much active in politics despite the fact that she has not been heard of in the political arena in recent times and remains an active member of the Southern Provincial Council.

Akarsha speaking to Daily Mirror online says that she is currently involved in projects to develop the south and adds that her ‘attendance register’ at the Provincial Council is proof that she is involved in working for the people of the south and developing the district.

“I am very much in politics and am involved in several tourism and development programmes for the south. We are hoping to see many new projects by the end of this year,” Akarsha said.

Akarsha was in the limelight during the Southern Provincial Council Elections late last year after fellow candidate Nishantha Mutuhettigama made frequent comments regarding the actress entering politics. (Daily Mirror online)

We heard that Mrs Anarkali is planting banana plant in southern province in inhabited areas. We hope that this will be very useful project... when there is a banana demand in this country....Any how she develop the south area..
