Popular actress Upeksha Swarnamali of ‘Paba’ fame claims fans of the television series are being misled and made to believe she is back to continue her role. She insists she had not returned since she was removed from the series following her decision to support Presidential candidate General Sarath Fonseka.

Upeksha told Daily Mirror online that some old scenes played by her in ‘Paba’ and telecast several months ago, were now being integrated to the ongoing story and the script changed accordingly to give the audience an impression that she was back in the TV series.

Upeksha said she thoroughly condemned such low-grade tactics and urged her fans not to be misled by such ploys.

Better than selling oneself for petty gain like a few old timers who shouted themselves hoarse..

    Saturday, 23 January 2010 04:42 AM

You mean like listening to some 'have been; actors & actresses of the past.

    Saturday, 23 January 2010 04:49 AM

    Saturday, 23 January 2010 04:50 AM

Country comes first Not any Paba or Baba...!!!!!
We still watch the Teledrama....Anyway we didn't like Her (Over)acting.....So the country comes first.right?..we do not want the war again...!!!!!!

    Saturday, 23 January 2010 04:55 AM

Going to the lowest level to mislead people

    Saturday, 23 January 2010 05:10 AM

This is the first time in this country we have heard of a vindictive government interfering in a simple teledrama to take revenge from an actress who has supported a political candidate of her choice. At this rage no one will be spared and they will start with punishing public servants too for their political beliefs. Anyway, I am sure Paba will have to undergo another change of script after the 27th. Wel, if Upeksha decided to fall in line with Tharunyata Hetak just like the other shameless actors, she would have not only got financial benefits but also an extended role in Paba!

    Saturday, 23 January 2010 05:12 AM

Certainly this is not an issue in Sri Lanka at this crucial momemt. More burning issues are on the surface. why we worry about Paba ?

    Saturday, 23 January 2010 05:22 AM

Including harassing an up and coming actress. What can you expect of the dictator & his goons.

    Saturday, 23 January 2010 05:25 AM

So how they may earn living?

    Saturday, 23 January 2010 05:29 AM

State-run-tv stations , not like private ones are funded by govt i.e taxes from the people who are not constituent of one political party. So they sh'd be neutral or moderate in every aspect of their views & acts. unfortunately in SL so called govt -run mass media ars bias towards the party in power. Mr Nimal Siripala De Silva recently said hear after relief -bag -of- fertilizer will not provided to the farmers who vote against MR. people gathered clapped for the saying. wo'd such thing can be happened in western country. Who pay the taxes, people or ministers or people of one political party?.

    Saturday, 23 January 2010 05:45 AM

Ane Pabo, the tele drama nation will miss you

    Saturday, 23 January 2010 05:53 AM

    Saturday, 23 January 2010 06:24 AM

What has happened to the artists who are backing the Govt? Have they also been taken out of their jobs? Hypocrites of the lowest grade!!!!! This is what is called Vairee Dheshapalanaya.

    Saturday, 23 January 2010 06:26 AM

Hey, look pretty BUT not intelligent and you are not someone who can do influence inteligent people on this election. Even strong UNPers like Cyril Wickramage, Ravindra R, Malini F support MR because for a strong reason. YOU????

    Saturday, 23 January 2010 06:33 AM

yes, as a juniour , this can be your answer but NOT the majority ?????????????

    Friday, 22 January 2010 06:58 PM

    Friday, 22 January 2010 07:14 PM

Can't you wait a few more days?

    Friday, 22 January 2010 07:19 PM

    Popularity, through sympathy!

    Saturday, 23 January 2010 06:57 AM

Good actresses are with SF. Bootlickers are with MR. This is the simple truth

    Friday, 22 January 2010 07:32 PM

So terrified of defeat ... even manipulating a teledrama script!

    Friday, 22 January 2010 07:34 PM

Artistic talent and popularity, should not be used for personal gain!

    Saturday, 23 January 2010 07:24 AM

People in public life should avoid getting involved in politics, this applies to sportspeople and entertainers.

    Friday, 22 January 2010 08:03 PM

Don't worry Upeksha, the truth will prevail! Justice will be reborn on 27th January, 2010!

    Friday, 22 January 2010 08:12 PM

    Friday, 22 January 2010 08:30 PM

She backed the winning 'horse,' that is the problem!

    Friday, 22 January 2010 08:32 PM

Honestly, you are not that much of an actress to miss!

    Saturday, 23 January 2010 07:52 AM

Paba, what else we can expect from a govt like this?

    Saturday, 23 January 2010 07:56 AM

You should have stayed neutral baby. Don't you know
Sri Lankan politics is a dirty game ?. Take care.

    Saturday, 23 January 2010 07:57 AM

Please boycott this teledrama for the good of sri lanka.

    Friday, 22 January 2010 09:21 PM

Upeksha, who is bothered about your "PABA" role, at this moment? People have more important things to consider!

    Friday, 22 January 2010 09:25 PM

So, this is the 'national problem' of the moment - 'Paba'?

    Saturday, 23 January 2010 08:11 AM

This is the new way of testing popularity. Actresses getting kicked out and vinging later. Politicians getting their ther old houses or cars burn and blame ther other party

    Friday, 22 January 2010 09:30 PM

    Saturday, 23 January 2010 08:12 AM

Seem to be winning but at the end will be nowhere

    Saturday, 23 January 2010 08:22 AM

it doesnt matter who she backs,, politics shud be kept away from other things in life... thats all that left for us to enjoy.. television and cricket.. they will ruin this also!

    Monday, 25 January 2010 07:56 AM

Is she the only artiste who is backing SF. Im sure there are many more, but are afraid to admit it becos of intimidation by not only the govt but even film/tele drama directors etc. Well done Upeksha for an honest opinion. HEY, HOW COME ANAKARLI IS SILENT THESE DAYS, AND GOLDEN OLDIES LIKE MALINI F. GEETHA K, NILMINI T ARE IN THE LIMELIGHT?

    Saturday, 23 January 2010 08:37 AM

    Friday, 22 January 2010 10:28 PM

'PABA,' don't worry! On 27th January, there will be more 'dramas.' You can start a new series on RUPAVAHINI as well - since both channels will, finally, be free, under SF!

    Friday, 22 January 2010 10:46 PM

    'Paba' 'pimbuna vedi'!

    Saturday, 23 January 2010 09:03 AM

Well you should have stuck to your acting when you know SF will never be the president.

    Friday, 22 January 2010 11:48 PM

'Paba,' wait till the 27th to get justice !

    Saturday, 23 January 2010 09:23 AM

Unfortunately, she was the only "kalakaraya" who had the guts to stand up against deceit and corruption and this is what she gets. This is exactly why we need a change!

    Friday, 22 January 2010 11:49 PM

'Paba,' this is a democratic country ... We're with you ... Truth will triumph on the 27th ... Don't worry lady!

    Saturday, 23 January 2010 12:06 AM

She is an actress, after all! She's just doing what she is good at - Acting!

    Monday, 25 January 2010 05:49 AM

Upeksha, with out you Paba will be a heap of cow dung.We will boycott the products of the sponsers if this goes too far.

    Saturday, 23 January 2010 09:35 AM

If one is scared to express his or her opinion or being intimidated when a stand is taken that means we are living under a tyranny and not a democracy. When that happens it is time that everybody take stand to defeat ther dictatorship.

    Saturday, 23 January 2010 12:09 AM

    This is demo-crazy!

    Saturday, 23 January 2010 09:39 AM

we really didn't notice that u were nt in the drama

    Saturday, 23 January 2010 12:22 AM

Stooping to the lowest possible level!

    Saturday, 23 January 2010 09:46 AM

    oya baba.

    Saturday, 23 January 2010 09:56 AM

MR has all the genuine artists in his side and only cheap 3rd class socalled actresses like Paba is with SF. She was living a luxury life in Dubai and now after 26 th she can go back there while SF fleds to US with his green card

    Saturday, 23 January 2010 09:58 AM

How many of her fans going to vote on her advice or on her performance? This is a sharp blow to the intellect of the voters! What sort of influence she will have on the electorate if Chandrika declares neutrality! Will she vote or abstain or make her vote invalid?

    Saturday, 23 January 2010 10:39 AM

you made a mistake. Please focus on your acting career rather than involving in dirty politics.

    Saturday, 23 January 2010 10:43 AM

    Paba, don't misuse the popularity.
Let politicians o do what ever the shit.
You do your acting only on the screen.
Don't try to do stage dramas on wrong stage.

    Tuesday, 26 January 2010 04:25 AM

very cussed in the true sense of the word.
