Two nineteen-year-old students drowned while bathing in the Kelani River at Ranwala in Kirindiwela yesterday evening, Police said.
They said the two students went missing when a group of students at a school in Weliweriya were bathing in the river.
Search operations were underway by the Police and the Navy with the assistance of residents to locate the missing students.

The Government should make basic swimming a compulsory subject for elementary school children to prevent these tragic accidents involving our precious children.
