Separate train accidents kill two

A 40-year-old woman and a 44-year-old man were killed in two separate train accidents which occurred in Wellawatte and Bambalapitiya last night, Police said.

They said the woman died after she was knocked down by a train plying to Colombo Fort near the Ramakrishna Road in Wellawatte.

Meanwhile the man, who is a police officer attached to the Peliyagoda Police, was killed after he was knocked down by a train plying from Kankasanthurei to Mt. Lavinia in Bambalapitiya.

Police said the victim was a resident of Kadawatha.
