Colombo Chief Magistrate Lanka Jayarathna today informed the attorneys who were representing former minister Rajitha Senaratne that the CID has to arrest the former minister since there is an arrest warrant.
Appearing on behalf of the former minister, President's Counsel Wasantha Nawaratne Bandara questioned whether his client has been named as a suspect of the 'white van' case.
Responding to the matter, Deputy Solicitor General Dileepa Peiris said that on December 24, the Attorney General has named the former minister as the third suspect of the case.
He also informed Colombo Chief Magistrate Lanka Jayarathna, on December 24, the Colombo Additional Magistrate had issued an arrest warrant on the former minister.
However, Wasantha Nawaratne Bandara PC informed that his client was admitted to the Lanka Hospital in Narahenpita last night.
“Doctor Uma Shankar, who is examining the former minister, said that he was not in good health to provide a statement to the CID," he informed the Magistrate.
However, denying his statement, DSG Dileepa Peiris said that the former minister was not admitted to the hospital based on medical conditions and that he has been absconding the CID since December 24. (Yoshitha Perera)
