Sorry for the pessimism, but whoever comes in this team, it will be just "old wine in new bottle" with the exception of Sajith Premadasa. He may influence a positive change.

    AshyD Monday, 19 February 2018 11:20 AM

Ranil should remain as PM till the next elections. Handover the UNP to Sajith. The UNP would surely turn its tables.

Kumara Dharmarathne Sunday, 18 February 2018 07:32 PM

Hope there will be a good outcome of the discussion and thereby country's current instability will end. Good luck to three of you Sirs, and most importantly to the people of this country.

    Sunil Sunday, 18 February 2018 08:09 PM

We have all respect for Karu J. But, if he becomes the PM he will create a record by being the PM of Sri Lanka for the shortest duration. The message from the people to this regime is clear. Go!

    Lion Sunday, 18 February 2018 08:13 PM

Hope and pray that positive outcome will come out to continue the government in power.

    manju Sunday, 18 February 2018 08:14 PM

In January 2005, he came through the back-door, Very soon he will leave through the back-door. His resigning alone will not reverse the trend. The point of no return has been reached.

    Aruna Sunday, 18 February 2018 08:16 PM

Indecent and shameless power greedy people still try to hold onto office and deceive us when you all are rejected by us at the local polls let alone a general election.

    Sarath Sunday, 18 February 2018 08:43 PM

Local authority elections are to elect people to clean drains, garbage etc. A loss there does not mean that the mandate of parliament ceases. How stupid!

    johan Sunday, 18 February 2018 08:16 PM

Now JO foxes under hot water and panic

    Gamaya Sunday, 18 February 2018 08:37 PM

Let RW complete his term as PM. But please hand over UNP leadership to one who can win the 2019 Presidential election

    SP Monday, 19 February 2018 09:51 AM

Yes, you are correct. Hon Sajith Premadasa is a vibrant politician and would be an IDEAL choice.

    Sambo Sunday, 18 February 2018 08:52 PM

There has to be a quick solution for you differences. All of you want to to cling to power. If MR has any power the country will go back to the dark era. So set aside your power hungry ideas and think of the country first. You all speak country first but your actions are different.

Real Peace Sunday, 18 February 2018 08:58 PM

I don’t know what’s going on in the head of MS! If it’s the debacle at the local election then it’s him who should resign before RW. MS-the-confused man!

Wesley Moses Sunday, 18 February 2018 11:16 PM

    Well said sir,

Its the most Simple thing to govern a country.impliment the rule of law.resign the president and pm.these two puppets destroying rule of law.

    Premalal Sunday, 18 February 2018 09:09 PM

With patriots like this who needs traitors.

MAD DOG Sunday, 18 February 2018 10:47 PM

I would say Ranil leaves way for Sajith Premadasa to take over UNP. This is best for the country. If Mahinda is allowed to take over the country, there is no doubt family politics will start and the West will not support our nation. We all know the value of West, but the RAJAPAKSES clans think otherwise.

Wesley Kotte.. Sunday, 18 February 2018 11:13 PM

RW should continue as PM..President you are making a big mistake by dividing UNP...2020 you will not have place in politics.

    S.P.RAMKUMAR Sunday, 18 February 2018 11:18 PM

The present president is not a genuine man because when he was a Health Minister, How JMO Colombo deliberately ignored his duty on Mohamed Dajudeen murder case, Do anyone believe that MR didn't order to his Health Minister. His Brother Dudly Srisena is direct responsible for rice price gone up. Do he is a clean hand. How can he involve UNP matter.

    TONY Sunday, 18 February 2018 11:21 PM

WHY ARE THE RULING PARTY STALWARTS PANICKING FOR JO EXCITEMENT. IT WAS NOT A PARLIAMENTARY ELECTION. SLPP DID NOT GET EVEN 50% OF THE VOTES. VOTERS HAVE VOICED THEIR DISAPPOINTMENT OVER INACTION OF THE GOVT TO TAKE ACTION AGAINST THE ROGUES

    Harry Monday, 19 February 2018 09:30 AM

Tony - Unfortunately LG results indicated openly about the real Rogues within the current regime!

    Jude Sunday, 18 February 2018 11:48 PM

Nothing going to change!!??? Remember, It's RW who's calling the shots !! Still, !! Why all the fuss, and the commotion !!????

    p nonis Monday, 19 February 2018 08:04 AM

This problem could have been sorted if this election is treated as a provincial council election and the vote against the govt by the people. But The Govt doesn't have to bow down to the verdict immediately, but continue until the next elections with the new set up.People has the right to vote to whom they please. but The Govt has to run the country until the next election with out further unnecessary protests with the opposition and previous rulers. As we can see the people will never get what they want any govt, although the candidates do make promises they can never fulfill. But the Govt has to continue with all odds until the Next elections.Their will be the opposition trying their level best to Topple Govt but They should not continue with it as the people has given their displeasure and protest in the Elections.Let the Govt correct their mistakes and continue for the progress and well being of its citizens.May God Help you the Govt in this marathon task

    Ranjan Monday, 19 February 2018 11:03 AM
