In response to online reports that he has been suspended from his membership of Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP), former Minister Prof. G.L. Peiris said President Maitripala Sirisena was also suspended from party, and later it was revoked.
He said President Sirisena was suspended after he joined hands with a rival party to contest against the Presidential Candidate of his own party. Therefore, he said the two situations should not be dealt with differently.
Prof. Peiris recently became the chairman of new political party called ‘Sri Lanka Podu Jana Peramuna’.

GL is outdated and too old for politics. He should retire now and stay at home to take care of his garden.

GL is a liar. Maithri was never removed from SLFP even when he ran for presidency. They started disciplinary hearing that's all!
