But no money for elections, free health as poor quality medicine, free education with severe shortages, no 3 square meals for some, etc. A change indeed of Ranil's standards.

Such a gesture by the government would be well and good if Sri Lanka's children weren't suffering without food and medications too, and it wasn't with the intention of attracting the muslim population to vote for the incumbent government.

    S. Samarakoon Monday, 01 April 2024 04:06 PM

Crazy indeed. So many Sri Lankans have no food. What nonsense is this ??

You beg from poor countries and donate to wartorn countries. Don't forget that number of beggars have increased in Sri Lanka in recent months.

While our children go hungry? Ranil is trying to build his international credentials while the citizens suffer.

How much do our children get to save off malnutrition?

    Sokrates Monday, 01 April 2024 06:29 PM

Very honorable; But can this be explained in a Sri Lankan population in which almost 50% of children do not get enough to eat?

Karalasingam Sivalingam Monday, 01 April 2024 08:07 PM

A worthy cause met by Srilankans is greatly appreciated, let's all join to gether to help the Gaza's children.

    Bagi Tuesday, 02 April 2024 10:28 AM

Is that so, why not then joint hands to save Sri Lankan children.

PRESIDENT AKKA SHOWMAN Monday, 01 April 2024 11:47 PM

NOT US$ 01 MILLION, WE COULD GIVE 2M IF OUR CHILDREN, THE LESS FORTUNATE AND POOR WERE ABLE TO PUT 3 BASIC MEALS ON THEIR TABLES, GET THE MEDICAL TREATMENT THEY NEED ETC. THIS IS A DECISION TO SHOW THE WORLD!!. NOT SURE WHAT RANIL IS TRYING TO PROVE AND TO WHOM?.

    Shera Tuesday, 02 April 2024 12:36 AM

Charity begins at home. Sri Lankan children are starving. Parents are leaving children and going overseas for work out of desperation, leaving kids vulnerable to abuse and exploitation. Yet you want to get in on the international bandwagon to be politically correct and show that you are charitable when your own people are desperate and starving. Being in Colombo is making the government dillusional.

A friend in need is a friend indeed. The people of Palestine are suffering in a different way. Sri Lankans are blessed in many ways.

Please see this in perspective . Rs. 300 million is given by a country of 20 million people. Which means each of us have given Rs. 15 from our pockets to feed innocent child victims of a war . If we can’t give Rs. 15 from our pocket to feed a hungry child wherever he/she may be , what kind of people are we ? What kind of a nation are we ? I’m proud to be Sri Lankan , to see our leader contribute on behalf of us what little we can , for this worthy cause

    fact Tuesday, 02 April 2024 10:17 AM

Great Initiative and for those who blindly comment this was collected from donors not from the government money . Gaza children’s are dying without food and we don’t have any such situation here ,thanks to god so it great to help those who are in need .

Those affected by cruel war in Wanni are still awaiting for state help to build up their life but our government is worrying about Gaza. As the village saying goes, the mother is hungry and starving but the son is busy giving rice dhana in a place if worship.
