Dr. Saman Ratnayake remanded until March 14

Additional Secretary of the Health Ministry Dr. Saman Ratnayake who was arrested over the import of substandard human Immunoglobulin injections, has been remanded until March 14.

 

He was ordered to be remanded when he was produced before the Maligakanda Magistrate’s Court this morning.

 

The Criminal Investigations Department (CID) arrested Dr Ratnayake yesterday after he arrived at the CID to provide a statement.

    A basic principle is ‘ until proven, he is innocent’ If he is found to be guilty, he must be punished to the maximum. Till then , it is a good thing to avoid discussing / exposing his movements in public.

    The nation expects you to come out with accurate details of this criminal offence orchestrated by a crook billionaire. But for the enormous pressure of civil society this would not have surfaced. The system change must take place with new faces so that more will get roped in.
