SriLankan Airlines says compelled to make changes to European routes

Due to the escalating tensions in the Middle East, the airspace in certain parts of the region has been closed. As a result, SriLankan Airlines is compelled to make changes to its European routes, including London, to avoid the conflict zone, the national carrier said in a statement. These route changes have led to increased flight durations on its services to Europe. For instance, Flight UL504, arriving from London to Colombo yesterday, was diverted to Doha for refuelling, due to in-flight rerouting, while UL501 from Colombo to Paris was also rerouted to avoid the affected airspace.  “We kindly request for our passengers’ understanding and patience as we implement these changes to prioritise their safety and well-being,” SriLankan Airlines said.
