The Janatha Vikukthi Peramuna is still behaving like they did in the 88-89 era where they unleased violence on the people, SLPP MP Namal Rajapaksa said today.
"We thought that there had been a change with the Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP) up to some extent. But still, the way that they behaved on May 9 shows the behaviour of the 88 and 89 eras," Namal said.
Addressing the media, he said that they thought the JVP had put their sticks, swords, daggers, and torches aside and had joined with the workforce to rebuild the country.
"We thought that the JVP would come to a policy decision to join in rebuilding the country. But this does not seem so," he said.
While commenting on the current government, Namal said the current president is implementing a certain procedure to uplift the country's economy. Also, he is trying to find a centre point for the policies of Sri Lanka Podu Jana Peramuna (SLPP) and his own policies.
"Therefore, we will give our best support to him. We are both separate political parties, and we stand on separate sides when considering political policies. But the President and we are trying to bring the policies to a middle point for both parties to fulfil the needs of the people in the country," Namal said.
If we cannot come to an agreement with any policy decision, we will be discussing it with him and making it right, he added. (Chaturanga Samarawickrama)

While our youth went after illusive Marxists, Indian youth went after the IT revolution and Higher education and have conquired the world by storm. Our youth needs to be educated in all fields. After the introduction of the Sinhala only act and the country has gone back to years whereas the others were far behind SriLanha has overtaken in all fields. Each parties encouraged rasism incited communal violence in order to divide and rule has only benefited the parties in order to gain votes but massively push country backwards. Can we all learn from our mistakes and and focus on unity, equality, and build the country together and stop blaming each other

If JVP is the only party, ask them to lead by example. Ask them to stop inhuman ragging at universities and turn universities into creating future leaders rather than protest boys who spend 7 to 10 years to complete their courses. Even if JVP comes into power, nothing will happen to Rajapakshas or any other politician. The system continues.

He is simply parroting a stale slogan that the worthless scroungers hope will cover their crimes and nudity. The worst Economic downturn started with the fertiliser policy of Gotabaya regime, their racial polices, statement made by the hierarchy that the president was elected purely on Buddhists votes etc, brought 90% of the population to near poverty level, violence encouraged by the then govt paved the way for 1983 riots, all these brought the country to poverty level. Racism, religious hegemony should be kept out of national politics for SriLanka to submerge.

Why blame the JVP, we all are responsible. We didn’t build strong democratic institutions to absorb diversity. Okay we killed Jaffna Tamils justifying them as a threat to the unity of the country. But we also killed Estate Tamils. I met a doctor of Estate Tamil descent in Melbourne whose father who owned an electronics shop in Hatton was killed in one of the many pogroms we initiated. Now what we are experiencing is an instalment Karmic punishment for our sins. More punishment to come
